Welcome to the Home Page of Nangkita Australian Stock Horse Stud, owned by David & Sally Bradshaw. Our stud is located near the small town of Kersbrook, just a short drive from Adelaide, in South Australia. We hope you find something of interest in these pages. See new photo's on our for sale page.
Our AimOur aim is to breed superior Australian Stock Horses, based on the Rivoli Ray bloodline, which will exhibit a combination of class and ability. We believe that Stock Horses should be fine looking animals which can perform in many disciplines.
Stud ProfileNangkita has been breeding ASH since 1992. In that time we have travelled in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and the Northern Territory, as well as in our own State of South Australia, competing at National, Royal and State shows, visiting studs, and looking at thousands of Stock Horses. We noted bloodlines and individual horses that we liked, paying particular attention to those that were successful. When considering successful lines, we think it is important that they are successful for all types of owners, not just professional trainers, or the bigger studs. From this research, we decided that horses descending from Rivoli Ray showed the right combination of classy looks, temperament and ability that we were looking for. Now, all of the horses in our stud are descendents of Rivoli Ray, through two of his sons, Albemarle Rival (d. Glen Lee Weskel, descendent of Star Kingdom) and Rivoli Reward (d. Huntly Sunstream, descendent of Midstream, Radium & Silvius), plus his grandson, Glen Lee Rivoli Revenue (by Riverdale Brown Boy, descendent of Fairway, Nearco & Shahzada). Mixed with this, we have the bloodlines of My Bobby (by Bobbie Bruce out of Lady Radiant), Romantic Gold (descendent of Nearco, Blandford, Hyperion and Carbine), Wansey Bonshaw (descendent of Leo Grey and Dimray), Timor Percival (descendent of Cecil and Bullseye) and Dalkeith Woraki (descendent of Blandford and Valais). As you would have noted, horses that we have selected for our stud have a large proportion of "old" thoroughbred in them. We believe that the traditional approach of breeding such thoroughbreds over mares which had proven themselves under saddle in Australian conditions, with perhaps a touch of Arab as well, still holds true today. As the breeders of old believed, we too believe that line breeding is the best measure of a line's prepotency. Since line breeding of the Rivoli Ray blood has already been proven to be successful by many other breeders, we also are attempting to maintain his influence in our horses.
