Proposed Workshops for 2009

Term 1: Tatachilla Lutheran School ‘Eco-classroom’ visit in week 9

Term 2: Carbon and Biodiversity Credit Offsets Workshop’ 19th May Education Development Centre

Term 3: Food and the Environment – 27th August e.g. organic, food miles, community gardens etc

Term 4: AGM and Games Night at the Global Education Centre. 28th October Education Development Centre

AAEE-SA Chapter held its AGM and final workshop at the Global Education Centre.

Thanks to Francine Smith for introducing the Global Education Centre. Members enjoyed the opportunity to share their knowledge and play global games. The evening concluded with the AGM. Thanks to the outgoing committee and welcome the new committee for 2010.

Challenging food kilometres and our food choices at Bowden Bromptom Community Centre

The evening held at the community centre challenged our carbon footprint in relation to the food we consume. We also had the opportunity to view the fantastic community garden.

GROWING NEW SKILLS

The Education for Sustainability - Growing new Skills series is being run collaboratively by the Environmental Education Unit (DEH), the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board and the Department of Education and Children's Services.

'Growing new Skills' has been designed for professionals working in and with schools and community groups in Natural Resource Management or environmental education.

ECOMAPPING WORKSHOP

Internationally renowned environmental consultant Heinz-Werner Engel completed a very successful workshop at Blackforest Primary School.

Ecomapping has several functions including:
- an inventory of environmental practices and problems
- a systematic method of conducting an on-site environmental review and audit
- a tool that allows employee or student involvement and participation
- an easy way to document and track environmental improvements
- a catalogue of immediate small positive actions.
