Bret "Hitman" Hart is unquestionably the most famous Canuck in professional
athletics. His technical expertise combined with the ability to brawl has made him an
indomitable force, hitting the USA like a snowstorm blowing in from the North.
Wrestling is in his blood. Bret, a native of Calgary, was raised among Canada's finest
grapplers. Bret's father Stu ran "The Dungeon" training center in the basement
of the Hart family home. Stu Hart produced such wrestling superstars as Roddy Piper, Chris
Benoit, and Chris Jericho. Under the tutelage of his father, Bret mastered the
fundamentals at an early age. Throughout the years, the "Hitman" has perfected
his every move, making him a lethal force when he hits the mat.
Bret began his amateur wrestling career in high school. Although highly successful, he did
not immediately pursue wrestling as a profession. It was not until he had given up the mat
for college that his true passion for the sport ignited.
Throughout his years as a professional, Bret has held the World Heavyweight Title five
times, plus enjoyed much success in tag-team competition. When he's not on the road, Bret
spends time in his homeland, where he occasionally writes a column for the Calgary Sun.
