The Provincial Prayer Cycle

**A reflection for Pentecost**

Each day take  time to draw closer to God, this reflective meditation requires only the commitment to do it once or twice a day

In this prayer choose a PENTECOST PRAYER WORD that you may use for these sessions:  a word like SPIRIT, RENEW ME!, STRENGTHEN ME! JESUS, LOVE, PEACE, HOPE or FREEDOM or some other word

Decide on a word and use the same one for at leats a few weeks.

Follow these simple steps

Find a quiet place to be for 10 minutes or so.....

1. The Presence of God: Be mindful that God is always with us. Take a deep breath and reflect that God is with you. God is with you and desires only good for you, he sees your goodness and your potential

2. As you sit begin saying the word you have chosen either silently or quietly out loud (if circumstances permit) Just let this be your simple exercise.

All things work together for God. Allow God to reshape and renew you through this prayer.

3. If you lose the plot!  (as we all do from time to time) just go back to saying the Prayer Word. It is easy to get distracted. When you realise that you have drifted simply refocus and go back to your word.

When you feel you have done this enough (5 minutes is plenty at first...better to do 5 minutes every day than to attempt to do 90 mins and find its too hard so so you stop! Most people can get up to 20-30 mins a day, sometimes twice a day.

It is better to start small, you can always do more!

4. Conclude with a short Prayer

Come Holy Spirit, Renew me today and every day Amen.

If your attention flags or you find that you have drifted off, simply note that you are distracted and return to the meditation.

When you are finished take 1 or 2 minutes to "come back" otherwise you may be a bit fuzzy

In this is love, not that we loved God; but that God first loved us
