My Reiki Story

Through the net I found a Reiki Master/Teacher called Pam Reeves who lives in the Adelaide Hills and who was giving a  Level One Class the following month and was able to fit me in. I had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised, when I arrived at her home, to be greeted by an 'ordinary' person who welcomed me into her home where I was introduced to three other students who were waiting to take the first step in their journey to accepting Reiki as a healing tool primarily for themselves but also for the good of others. For me, the whole day was a lovely, enlightening experience and after that day I couldn't wait to practice Reiki on myself, my family, my dogs, my friends - in fact anyone who was willing to let me put my hands on them!

Giving myself Reiki has become a natural part of my everyday life - if I don't find time during the day, then I either spend 30-40 minutes placing my hands on my body before going to sleep, or when I first wake up in the morning.

After about three months of giving Reiki to others, I knew the time was right to take the Second Degree and again my Reiki Master/Teacher was there for me. When I came home from this course, I felt as though I had been charged with an electric current! I was buzzing with excitement and felt incredibly aware of everything around me - colours were brighter, sounds and smells were so much sharper, but I felt so much calmer and at peace with myself.

I started to read as much as I could about Reiki - borrowing books from the library, surfing the net, talking to other Reiki practitioners, and I knew that this was only the beginning of a very long, exciting journey for me. The skills that I had been taught by my Master/Teacher were strengthening every day and my clients were also beginning to feel subtle changes in their lifestyle - from a reduction in sinus problems during winter to feeling more relaxed within themselves and able to cope with everyday problems on a much calmer basis. (Click here for Testimonials)  On a personal level, I began to feel much younger in my outlook on life and am now able to accept and love other people as they are without trying to change them.

After about a year the idea of taking the Master Degree - the term used for teachers of this healing art - started forming in my mind. I spoke to my Master/Teacher at length about this step in my life and, thankfully, she was happy to guide me through this next, very important stage in my development. I spent an afternoon with Pam talking and learning as much as I could about my responsibility as a Master/Teacher and then, after many weeks of study and meditation, I was finally initiated into the Master/Teacher level. (click here to access my Reiki Lineage)

I now teach Reiki Levels One, Two and Three from my home - usually once a month. The Level Three (Master/Teacher) class is available on request, often on a one-to-one basis over two half days. Teaching Reiki is very satisfying for me, mainly because I know that I am helping other people to achieve their potential and for them perhaps to move on to the next stage in their development.

Since becoming a Reiki Master/Teacher in 2004, I have trained more than 200 students to Level One and, to date, 90 students have returned to take the next step by completing the Level Two course. Furthermore, 14 of my Level Two students have returned to successfully undertake their Level Three (Master/Teacher) course.

I know that when the time is right for you, Reiki will start to send out messages to you and it will begin to turn up in your life. I believe that Reiki finds you, rather than you finding Reiki. I wish you joy and peace in your life.
