Structure Fire - Glenalta - 4th June 2002
Fire has caused $150,000 damage to a home on Main Road at Glenalta.
The house was well engulfed in flames as firefighters from Belair arrived at the Main Road property within four minutes of the blaze being reported by neighbours. The fire started soon after 9pm.
Initial fears were that someone was still inside the house but it was discovered that the home was unoccupied and the owners were soon accounted for watching on in disbelief.
Confronted by a barrage of onlookers, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high-pressure hose lines to extinguish the fire and protect the neighbouring properties. Fire cause investigators were last night unable to determine the cause of the blaze but it’s deemed not suspicious.
A total or 3 High Pressure Lines, 1 64mm line and 6 Breathing Apparatus were used. Belair Pumper, Blackwood 24 and Blackwood Rescue attended the fire.
Despite the extensive damage to the home, all contents inside the building were saved.
The State Emergency Service was later called to secure the property.
There was no report of injuries.
