Truck Accident, Coromandel Valley - December 7 2001
A Truck driver can count himself lucky tonight as he escaped without injury after crashing his truck through armco at the bottom of Ackland Hill Road.
The truck lost its brakes partway down the steep road. Coromandel Valley crews were at station preparing their vehicle for the Blackwood Xmas Pageant, when the truck sounded his horn as he passed the station.
The truck proceeded a further 200m to the intersection of Main Road, careering across the busy intersection, crashing through the armco and down towards the Sturt River. The waste bin on the back of the truck was thrown and building waste strewn for 30m.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The incident was attended by Cormandel Valley CFS, Sturt SES, SA Ambulance and Police. The vehicle was eventually towed by Shipp Bros Towing with the driver being transported to FMC for observation.
