Grass Fire - Coromandel Valley - February 8th 2001

Coromandel Valley Fire Area

Sturt Group responded to a fire which burnt 8 hectares of grass land at Main Road Coromandel Valley this afternoon.

All Group Appliances responded which include Coromandel Valley 24 & A24, Cherry Gardens 14 & 24, Blackwood Rescue & 24, Eden Hills Pumper & 24, Belair 14 CAFS, Pumper & Tanker, Sturt Car 1, 2 & 3 and Mitcham Tanker.

Additional appliances responded from Happy Valley, Morphett Vale, Clarendon, Ironbank, Upper Sturt, Mylor with tankers from Mawson and Mt Lofty Groups.

The fire threatened two houses, sheds and some horses had to be relocated. The fire was burning in a steep gully moving towards Cherry Gardens before successfully contained.

Crews from Coromandel Valley & Cherry Gardens patrolled through the night and the following day.

No property was damaged and the cause is being investigated.
