Unit Fire - Eden Hills - 22nd October 2000


A smoke detector has saved the lives of a couple when their Eden Hills flat caught fire early this morning in Hillcrest Drive, Eden Hills.

Crews from Blackwood and Eden Hills , as well as MFS, were called to the fire at 0415 this morning.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and extinguished the fire in around 15 minutes.

It is believed that the fire started from discarded smoking material left in the wheely bin.

The damage has been estimated at $150,000. No one was injured in the fire.
