About the Clubs...

There are ten clubs affiliated with Governing Council, 
details of which are as follows:-

The Clubs in the Metropolitan Area

CAT FANCIERS' SOCIETY OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA INC.

The Cat Fanciers was established in 1957, and this club has always worked for charities and has passed on much financial help.
The aims and objects have remained the same since the club's inception, i.e. 

"THE SOCIETY" means - all owners of cats,  pedigreed or otherwise, and all persons  interested in cats.

"THE AIMS" are - to safeguard and encourage fair dealing and kind treatment of all cats, and to hold  or support shows or exhibitions of all cats.
MEETINGS are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Club badges are available from the Secretary.


LONGHAIR CAT CLUB OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA INC.

Formed August 1969, this club has existed for the improvement of breeding and showing all types of Longhair cats. These include Persians, Exotics, Birmans, Ragdolls, Maine Coons and Turkish Vans.
The Club's aims and objectives include:

(a) To promote the welfare of cats, and in particular, Longhair cats.
(b) To raise the standard of breeding and exhibiting cats.
(c) To provide facilites for discussion and the interchange of views among cat owners.

A quarterly magazine "Cat Chat" is distributed to all subscribers.
General meetings are held on first Tuesday of February, April, June, August, October and December at 95 South Tce, Adelaide, at 8 p.m.
The Club offers to members,
(1) advice on grooming, exhibiting and maintenance of the Longhair,
(2) discounts on grooming shampoos and requisites, flea powders etc.
(3) assistance with kitten sales via a Yellow Pages advertisement.

Visitors are always welcome.


THE FOREIGN SHORTHAIR CAT CLUB OF STH. AUST. INC.

Membership is open to anyone with a love of cats. Our special interests are those breeds that are grouped under the general heading of Foreign Shorthairs. These include Russians, Abyssinians, Burmese, Cornish Rex, Devon Rex, Korats, Siamese and Orientals and the British Shorthair / Manx group. If you are curious about these breeds, watch out for them at shows, where their owners will be only too happy to talk to you about them.

The club publishes a quarterly magazine for members which contains articles of interest to cat people. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (except December and January) in the Staff Room at Highgate Primary School, Avenue Road, Highgate starting at 7-30. Everyone is welcome to attend.  The Secretary holds stocks of pedigree forms and all Governing Council forms.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CAT BREEDERS ASSOCIATION INC.

The S.A. Cat Breeders is an All breeds Cat Club which was founded in 1961. The Association consists of members, honorary members Life members, honorary Life members and associate members. Membership shall be subject to the rules of the Association. Full membership for owners of Pedigreed exhibits and associate membership for owners of Domestic and Part Pedigreed exhibits, with full show privileges but inability to move motions or vote at meetings.

The aims and objects of the association are:-

* To promote the welfare of cats and foster interest in the Cat Fancy.
* To encourage the breeding of pedigreed cats. 
* To raise the standard of breeding and exhibiting of pedigreed cats.
* To encourage competition among cat owners by promotion of shows and giving of prizes, certificates or trophies and by any other means which may from time to time be determined by the Assoc'n.
* To provide facilities for discussion and interchange of views among owners.
* To collect, verify and publish information relative to cat breeding and exhibiting.
