Three of these photos were sent to us in October 2005 by Mr John Kendall of Birricannia in western Queensland. The pieces of mill are lying on a cattle grid, which accounts for all the extra piping in the background. There is no evidence of the tower or of the type of windmill. The fourth photo was sent to us in January 2004 by Mr Peter Russell of the Winton Historical Society in central Queensland. It is located on Bonnie Downs Station, central Queensland, near an abandoned bore on Culloden Creek, and appears to have been lying on the ground there since 1920. Each sail is rivetted and the centre shaft is described as being no more than 1 1/4" in diameter. There appears to be similarities in the two wind wheels but other than that, nothing is known about either of the mills. |
