Australian developed site of stories, puzzles and activities related to the topic of animal myths and legends from around the world. 

Bulfinch's Mythology 
This site provides the complete text of Bulfinch's Mythology,( first published in 1855) the standard guide to Western mythology. The site allows users to search the three main sections of the text for keywords, scan a list of poets and poetry cited in each section, and consult notes written by the site's author, Bob Fisher. This site is excellent for studying the underlying myths of Western Civilization.

Camelot Project, The 
The Camelot Project is probably a better resource for older students, but is a wonderful collection of Arthurian texts, with information about the members of Arthur's court and the places and symbols of Arthurian legend. Each section has an introduction, a collection of images, and links to electronic texts. While still being developed, it is already a fascinating site.

Encyclopedia Mythica 
The site contains thousands of articles on players and places from the mythology of more than 25 cultures, including Greek, Roman, Norse, and Native American, plus sections on the Arthurian Legend and Folklore.

Fairy Tales 
From the University of Maryland, this site has an extensive index of fairy tales and folk stories. The stories are displayed in text only, so it is fast to load and easy to use.

Folklore and Mythology: Electronic Texts 

Folklore and Mythology: Electronic Texts is a remarkable labour of love from D.L. Ashliman, an academic from the University of Pittsburgh. This site contains a wide ranging collection of original folklore from all around the world. Many of the stories are grouped under headings, so that, for example, you can compare English stories about changelings, or travellers' folk tales from around the globe. A plain site, but highly recommended.

Mysteries: Learning with Mysteries 
This Mystery site includes worksheets to use, vocabulary exercises, a write-a-mystery section, and you can work the weekly online Solve-it Yourself mystery into the curriculum as part of the educational material. The main learning skills involved are critical thinking, analysis, and reading and writing.

Stories of the Dreaming

The Fraynework organisation has put together stories and word games related to the Australian environment suitable for young people. Includes a section on slang, Australian animals and environmental issues.
