If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
There are organisations that talk a lot about the customer and then completely neglect the people that deal with the customer - the employees. Always treat your employees exactly as you want them to treat your best customers. You can buy a person’s hand, but you cannot buy their heart. The heart is where the enthusiasm, and loyalty is. You can buy their back, but you can’t buy their brain. That’s where a person's creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness is. Work is treating employees as volunteers just as you treat customers as volunteers, because that’s what they are. They volunteer the best part - their hearts and minds. author unknown |

To laugh, is to risk playing the fool. To weep, is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out to another, is to risk involvement. To expose feelings, is to risk exposing our true selves. To put your ideas, your dreams, before the crowd is to risk loss. To love, is to risk not being loved in return. To live, is to risk dying. To hope, is to risk despair. To try at all, is to risk failure. But risks must be taken, Because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they simply cannot learn, change, feel, grow, love, live... Chained by their attitudes they are slaves. ONLY THE PERSON WHO RISKS IS FREE. Author Unknown |
we give gifts of the heart:
love, kindness, joy, understanding,
sympathy, tolerance, forgiveness.
We give of ourselves when
we give gifts of the mind:
ideas, dreams, purposes, ideals,
principles, plans, inventions, projects, poetry.
We give of ourselves when
we give gifts of the spirit:
prayer, vision, beauty, aspiration,
peace, faith.
We give of ourselves when
we give the gift of words:
encouragement, inspiration, guidance.
Emerson said it well:
"Rings and jewels are not gifts,
but apologies for gifts.
The only true gift is
a portion of thyself."

Today my thoughts are centred on expecting only the best and giving only the best. Today my mind and heart are open to new opportunities and I make the most out of every situation. Today I will smile and act enthusiastically in everything I do. I will make every person I meet feel very important and I will show them that I care. Today my confidence is high and I am willing to step out and take a chance. I speak freely to all those I meet. I know I have something valuable to contribute. I expect results today and my time is well invested. Today I am one step closer to achieving my goals and dreams. I always keep my eyes focussed on success and prosperity. Today I will sow good seed so that I will reap my harvest of reward. Today is my day!

The day before tomorrow Is a very special day And I feel that I should live it In a happy kind of way... Tomorrow's so mysterious That I really can't foresee The things that might be happening And the way that life might be But the Day Before Tomorrow That's quite a different thing... Those hours are so much closer I can guess what they might bring... I'd rather be a sparrow Or a lily of the field And just wait til God's will for me Is finally revealed... I'll put aside the griefs and cares -- The trouble I won't borrow And just be glad I'm living in The Day Before Tomorrow! Author |

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Success is doing the best you can, in as many ways as you can. It is being just and honest and true -- not in a few things, but in everything you do. Always look ahead and never look back, believe you can make all your dreams come true. Always believe in the best you can be and have faith in the things that you do. Forget about mistakes you've made yesterday, the lessons you learn will prove valuable for today... Never give up and think that you're through... for there's always tomorrow and a chance to begin brand new. It is in dreaming the greatest dreams... and seeking the highest goals... that we build the brightest tomorrows. There is no limit to the goals you can attain, or the success you can achieve... your possibilities are as endless as your dreams. Whatever it is that you seek in life, whatever your dreams and what you hope to achieve, whatever you try to reach -- whatever you plan... can all be yours -- if you only believe you can!
|
|
There are no miracles for those who doubt their possibilities... But for those who believe -- truly believe... all is possible. Whatever you may have believed; whatever you may have done; and whatever you may be in your life -- It's not too late to change course and begin anew... A fresh start, a bright future and the wonderful peace that passes all understanding, are yours for the taking, now and forever more!

I first came across the poem "What is Life" when I was waiting in a doctors office in a Rehabilitation Hospital. Below the poem there was the words "Author Unknown". I copied down the poem and put it up on my web site. Four years later, I received an email from a site visitor saying that the poem was written by his mother. I had no reason to disbelieve his comment and do believe that his mother wrote down the poem in front of her children. So I put her name on my site as the author of the poem.
Within one week of the change I received another email from another site visitor saying that it is well known that the poem was actually written by Mother Ther
esa. I am sure that Mother Theresa would never want to be connected with an argument over who wrote a poem. She would simply want to know that the meaning of the poem, in whatever form, was being read and enjoyed by peoples from all religions and countries.So I give to you both version
s (and I assume there are many others out there). Let us not argue over who wrote the poem. Let us simply enjoy the words and meaning behind them.
Life
is an opportunity, .... benefit from it.
Life is beauty, .... admire it.
Life is bliss, .... taste it.
Life is a dream, .... realize it.
Life is a challenge, .... meet it.
Life is a duty, .... complete it.
Life is a game, .... play it.
Life is a promise, .... fulfill it
Life is sorrow, .... overcome it.
Life is a song, .... sing it.
Life is a struggle, .... accept it.
Life is a tragedy.... confront it.
Life is an adventure, .... dare it.
Life is luck, .... make it.
Life is too precious, .... do not destroy it.
Life is life, .... fight for it.

Hi a friend sent this (web page) to me, and I asked her where she got it, and she said that she found it on the Internet. I asked her for the address and she gave me this. My moms name is Julia Napier, and she wrote the poem What Is Life, you know, the one that goes, Life is a gift, accept it. Just thought that you would like to know that. She wrote it a long time ago, but I know this because me and my brother were sitting next to her when she scribbled it down on paper. Wonder how it got on the Internet. I told her it was there, she was happy that people liked it, but she isn't the one that put it there. I think a long time ago, she gave it to a friend, and that is the last she did with it, except put it in her book. Now, she isn't a "Author Unknown".
