Wanted - GMH Holden Australia Memorabilia
Hi I'm Matt and this is my hobby - collecting General Motors Holden Australia Memorabilia.

If you want to hear  "The Old Holden Waltz" then click on this  link to hear Kendron Taylor sing this song  (note it takes about 17 seconds before the music starts playing. Minimise the page so that you can continue to hear the song whilst looking at this web page).

I have listed for you, a variety of items which I have collected over the years (and believe me, this is not all of it).

Some of the collection is very common and others are becoming increasingly rare.

Most of these items have been purchased since the mid 1970's from garage sales, trash and treasure markets and on-line collectable sites. Others have been given to me by friends and relatives. My wife and I, love coming across some of the long forgotten, rare, and unusual items that can be found in someone's garage.

I NEED YOUR HELP TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE FOLLOWING:

This brass plaque was found in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea by a local land owner who said that his land was a former Australian airport during World War 2. He had found this brass plaque buried on his land.

It is about 14 cm long and 10.5 cm high and weighs about 735 grams and is 8ml thick.

I am trying to find out what machinery this may be from. If you have any ideas please do not hesitate to contact me on kday@chariot.net.au.

This plaque is described as follows:

MADE IN AUSTRALIA
BY
GENERAL MOTORS HOLDENS LTD
MKIII    1942
WOODVILLE SOUTH AUSTRALIA
No 470

HOLDEN & FROST COLLECTION

HOLDEN & FROST SADDLERS ADELAIDE - WOODEN RULER MEASURES 24 INCHES:

Silver and Wood Ash Tray - Believed to be Holden and Frost presentation gift

Holden and Frost Amo Pouch

Small leather pouch stamped 'Holden & Frost 1916' made by Holden & Frost, saddlers and leather good manufacturers, thought to be a Pattern 1903 ammunition pouch, which was issued primarily to members of the Australian Light Horse Regiment during the First World War. The pouch was used to carry .303 rounds for the SMLE rifle with this size pouch holding 10-15 rounds. These pouches were worn on a leather belt along with three others (two on either side).

B 2989

James Holden immigrated to SA in 1852 from Staffordshire, UK and began a saddlery/leather goods business in King William St in 1856 (near Beehive Corner). They became Holden & Frost in 1885 when Henry Frost became a junior partner. In the mid-1880s expanded their small-scale ironmongery to repairing and building horse-drawn carriages and in 1913 began production of motorcycle sidecars and in 1914 built its first car body. The building was demolished in 1966. Harris Scarfe then occupied the site.

The horse on the right from the AMOSA display is representing the Waler Horse but is said to be the actual the life size horse from the second floor of Holden & Frost Saddlers works in Adelaide.  I wonder if this version of the horse resided inside the building rather than outside the building as part of the internal display. What do you think?
