Welcome my name is Andrew and I hope you enjoy my site, the Science Fiction Film is 97 years old this year (1999), and it seems appropriate that we celebrate this milestone with a look at movies from the era 1900 - 1960. I consider this to be the most exciting and innovative time of the sci-fi genre. A Frenchman named Geoge Melies is generally credited with making the first Sci-Fi film, A Trip to the Moon released in France during 1902. Melies was quite popular in his day, and his fantastic features were sufficiently successful to prompt other filmmakers throughout the rest of the world to try these unusual themes. So began an incredible oddesy of the Sci-Fi film which till this day captures the imagination’s of people from all walks of life. |
