BOTANICAL REGIONS
OF
SOUTH AUSTRALIA
|
|
Notes
This map is based on the work of J.M. Black (1855-1951),
whose Flora of South Australia, first published in 1922 and now in its fourth edition, has become the standard botanical reference.
Black's regions are clearly defined along lines of latitude and longitude, but do not correspond so closely to geographic regions as defined by soil, topography, etc.
A more recent attempt to take these other factors into account is the 1995 Interim Biogeographical Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) system.
