Formed in 1998, the Friends are a community group with an interest in the conservation
of the remnant native vegetation of Patawalonga Creek. Located on Adelaide Airport land
(west of Tapleys Hill Road), this is the largest remaining part of the Reedbeds, the vast
tract of wetlands which once stretched from Glenelg to the Port River.
FoPC has been endorsed as an ITEC (income tax exempt charitable entity).
(ABN: 75 075 642 962)
We are represented on the Patawalonga Creek Steering Committee, which meets regularly at Adelaide Airport.
FoPC is also a member group of the 'Our Patch' project, which is operated by the
Adelaide & Mount Lofty Ranges NRM Board.
For some of our activities, such as Curry Nights, we operate as a sub-group of the
Friends of Gulf St Vincent.
By focussing on this and other local sites of environmental significance, we hope to arouse interest in local environmental history, to promote a greater understanding of wider issues, and to increase communication and sharing of resources between
community groups.
