The Blest Lord Jesus
The Blest Lord Jesus came to us
to rid the world of woe.
He healed the sick and cured the lame,
and laid the haughty low,
He drove the money changers from
the Temples holy walls.
And He bade us love our neighbours as
we would be loved ourselves.
Now there were those who feared that He
had come to set men free.
So they laid their plots against Him and
they paid the traitors fee.
Just thirty silver pieces was
the price they paid for Him.
Then they took Him and they scourged Him and
they hung Him on the tree.
When He was dead they cut Him down
and laid Him in the tomb.
And all the bright hope that He had brought
seemed buried there with Him,
But the Son of God could not be killed,
nor yet His spirit tamed.
And within three days He left the grave
and walked the earth again.
He rose unto His Fathers house,
to sit at His right hand.
To judge the living and the dead,
for all things He commands.
He offers us salvation, and
our souls eternal life.
And in faith we call upon Him to
redeem us into light.
