Crowned in green glory
Refrain:
But He rose again in Heaven to reign,
And sit at the right hand of God.
From whence He shall come in His glory to judge,
The living and the dead.
Verses:
The Lord in mercy bled for us,
On Calvary He suffered.
Upon the cross He died in pain,
And the sun was darkened in sorrow.
Before they dragged Him to His death,
On that bare hill in the morning.
They tried Him and then they left Him to,
The compassion of the heartless.
They scourged and beat Him with their hands,
They mocked and spat upon Him.
Then clothed Him in a scarlet robe,
And crowned Him in green glory.
They nailed Him to the bloody red Cross,
And raised Him high in His sorrow.
They pierced His side with the spears sharp steel,
And left Him broken and dying.
Yet though He died the triumph was His,
For death could never contain Him.
And on His head the green crown of thorns,
Is replaced by the Crown of Heaven.
