Holy is the infant
Holy is the infant who has come to us today,
born within a stable, nestled in the golden hay.
Tired and anxious Mother! Hear us as we sing!
The child you bore has come to us to rule us as our King.
Foretold by the prophets and the wisest folk of old,
who spoke of a virgin giving birth in wintry cold.
Turned from human dwelling! With the beasts to lay!
Yet in that humble setting give to us our Lord today.
See the star that glows above, like fire in the skies,
shining in the stable where the holy infant lies.
Promise of His coming! Portent of His birth!
The symbol of the light that He shall bring to all the Earth.
Angel choirs singing are the lullaby He hears,
joyously proclaiming news which we have sought for years.
Christ is come among us! Hear the heav'nly voice!
Let all the earth with reverence in joyous tones rejoice.
Wise men from the east are here to worship at His feet.
shepherds from the hills have come, their infant Lord to greet.
People of all nations! Rich and poor unite!
To sing the praises of the Child who comes to us tonight.
