SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BALLOON AND AIRSHIP CLUB


Several years of successful ballooning in South Australia led up to the initial Barossa Balloon Regatta which was held at Seppeltsfield in the Barossa Valley in 1978. As this event developed into an annual event the need arose for a body to promote and organise ballooning and in 1982 the South Australian Balloon and Airship Club held its inaugural meeting in Adelaide, electing officers and formulating objectives. This club is affiliated with the national body, the Australian Ballooning Federation, which was formed in Melbourne in 1975.

Membership of the South Australian Balloon and Airship Club (SABAC) is not restricted to balloon pilots only. As ballooning is very much a team sport there is plenty of opportunity for members to be involved in other activities such as crewing or observing.
