The Mafia wars begins as the Tong takes advantage of the worldwide depression to attack other criminal organisations and take over their operations.
Their first victim is the Yakuza, giving them total criminal control of both China and
Japan.
2020 AD - The U.S. Government begins gathering the jobless in the inner cities and relocating them to
Welfare Zones: government funded neighbourhoods which keep them far from the law
abiding taxpayers. These people are given the prestigious title of Welfare
Citizen, and granted the right to live on Welfare indefinitely. They may leave and acquire
Taxpayer Citizen status by work and education, or they may volunteer to migrate to other
countries. However other countries begin copying this program.
2021 AD - The Tong attacks the Loa in South America, for the first time
supernatural forces are involved. There are no survivours of the
Mexican/Colombian Mafia war, Venom moves into their territory.
2023 AD - The Legion, Force of July and Crimson Storm combine their
forces to defeat the Tong, Loa and Venom. The Mafia wars end.
2029 AD - Super Sleuth Dirk Mirando discovers the Church of
Enlightenment's secret, leading to a firefight at a chapterhouse in New Orleans.
He escapes only to return with the current D'arque Lord, Geomancer and an Earth
Elemental. Together they destroy the insect demon infestation in the city.
2030 AD - The Church of Enlightenment's secret is now known to the
authorities. The FBI and National Guard begin cleaning out and closing down the insect hives hidden within
church chapters.
2031 AD - The superhero team Fireforce discover Los
Angeles has the largest multispecies demon insect hive on the continent. An initial raid to destroy the
hive fails with the team being killed and insect demons spilling into the surrounding
city. A tactical nuclear weapon is smuggled in by the Crusaders and detonated within the
Church complex. Over 10,000 insect demons including a queen are caught in the
blast. A mana warp is created at the site.
2032 AD - After extensive debate the
U.S. government establishes the L.A. Containment Zone enclosing the entire city, including the site of the
blast. Search and destroy missions continue across the rest of the U.S. for
further hives. 2033 AD - A
final massive insect demon invasion is launched from the one surviving hidden
Enlightenment Church in Mexico city. The Parliament of Nature gathers all
existing heroes, mages and supernatural entities and attack the invaders. Many
are killed but all the demons are destroyed and the gateway talisman is
shattered into dust, sealing the dimensional portal. 2056 AD -
The Illuminati provide Metatech with plans for a new series of AI robot capable
of combating super humans.
2057 AD - The Force of July takes control of the U.S. with the aid of Metatech's
new Guardian series robots. These robots have monkey like thinking capabilities,
and are designed to specifically battle and kill meta and parahumans. The Paranormal
registration act is introduced to force all super humans to either join the
government or be expunged.
Project Genocide is finally unleashed.
2058 AD - Most superhumans have either fled the U.S., joined the Force of
July or are dead. Dissident Zones are now introduced where any undesirables and criminals are deported to. Mk II Guardian robots come
online; they are comparable in intelligence and ability to humans. All remaining
resistance within the U.S. is defeated. The U.S. is suspended from the UN for
genocide against mutants.
2059 AD - Mk III Guardians are built and are used in annexing Mexico. These
Guardians are the first truly aware of their kind. NATO dissolves. The UN
security council sends Legion forces to Canada and Central America to protect
them from the Guardians.
2060 AD - Mk IV Guardians are created by the Mk IIIs.
These Guardians decide they will no longer serve humanity and turn on the Force
of July. The entire Force is exterminated with the Guardians suffering 40%
losses. No superhumans remain alive within the U.S. or Mexico.
2061 AD - Halley's Comet returns to the Solar System and passes near Earth. A massive Martian
invasion force rides along with it. The third War of the Worlds begins with the Shadow moon base
being attacked first. The base is destroyed but inflicts major losses on the
invaders. The Greenseeker's base is demolished next (although the subterranean
core survives, minus any inhabitants). The Martians descend on earth.
2062 AD - Africa and the Middle East fall quickly to the invaders.
Europe now having the greatest concentration of super humans is able to put up
greater resistance. Taking advantage of the situation the Greenseekers and
Crimson Storm perform a coup in Russia. The Guardian robots fend off the
invaders in the U.S., as do Shadow in Australia and New Zealand.
2063 AD - The U.S. falls to the Martians as they
obliterate the last of the Guardian robots and their manufacturing plants. In
Egypt the Sons of Anubis open a portal to summon Tyrannus from Neverworld. The
Cult of Kali releases a genetic virus to destroy the world's food crops. Many
of the remaining governments begin genengineering mutant animals on a mass scale
to use as their armies.
2064 AD - Russia and China fall to the Martians. M.S.I. comes up with a cure for the food virus. The Templars launch an all out assault against Tyrannus managing to destroy him
permanently. Both the Templar and Anubis forces are destroyed in this battle. Only a few Templars remain in the Vatican. The Cult of Kali send suicide squads to each of the M.S.I. labs around the world
destroying all bar the one in Rome which is protected by the Parliament of
Nature. The Cult next releases a plague (later dubbed the Red Plague) designed to kill all life on Earth and
sacrifice everyone to their goddess Kali.
2065 AD - The Parliament of Nature grows a cure for the Red Plague in the Grove
of Serenity and releases it into the atmosphere. Its effects are almost
instantaneous with most of the population fully recovering.
The Parliament next gather the remaining world super heroes, Templars and
supernatural to attack the Cult of Kali at their headquarters in Calcutta. They
arrive too late to prevent the Cult initiating a nuclear exchange between the
east and the west. However Eon is able to use her powers to shift the
worst of the radiation into another dimension, she disappears along with it.
The remaining 8% of the Martian forces concentrate their assault on Shadow Island. Shadow is wiped out
but the Zillas prove too powerful and the remaining Martians are defeated. The
third War of the Worlds ends. 2066 AD - With no government
remaining in any country the Illuminati seize control. However once the core
leaders are revealed they are all assassinated by Justice, who had used his
shapeshifting powers to infiltrate them. The world descends into total anarchy.
On Mars, the Martians learning of the failure of their earth invasion and having
depleted the last of their resources, prepare for the end of their race. 2068
AD - One of the last probes launched earlier in the century arrives at
Neptune. Radiation, disease and starvation in the aftermath of
the war kills many millions more. Bodies are hurriedly buried often without
grave markers. This is the beginning of a long period of anarchy on the Earth.
Humanity struggles just to survive. Many humans and other life forms are
horribly mutated by the prolonged exposure to radiation and the resurgence of
mana. National and international communications completely break down. 2071
AD - The slide through pestilence, famine and anarchy continues for the next
two decades. Vulnerable ocean shipping falls victim to pirate action and cannot
not be rebuilt due to the loss of industrial capacity. Only Italy, France and
Spain retain a viable merchant fleet. Oil refineries, fields, and the oil
distribution network were all destroyed by the Martians. Every government
whether democracy or dictatorship attempts to recruit as many metahumans and
mutant animal soldiers as possible. The wars become more savage. 2089 AD -
The final probe arrives at Pluto. Mutant animals become more widespread and
dominant in some countries.
2100 AD - On Mars the last Martian dies. Dissension begins to grow
between the different Mutant animal species.
Venom enters
the Mafia wars by taking over the Outlaw Motorcycle gangs. After a long and
brutal campaign the Tong eliminates the Russian mafia. The Mexican mafia goes to war
with the Colombians. The Legion defeats the last of the Italian mafia in Sicily.
The Cubans and Jamaican gangs battle each across the U.S.
The secret about the Church of Enlightenment is shared with the UN and the
governments of all countries. All Enlightenment churches worldwide are cleaned
out and destroyed.
General Georgina Montgomery is elected president of the U.S. but exposed as a
queen host by the Parliament of Nature and in the subsequent battle destroyed by
one of their fire elementals. A new election is called.
