A Motorola 800mhz  trunking system has been established in Adelaide for commercial users. The system has base sites at Mount Lofty, Port Adelaide and in the CBD.

The system uses Motorola Smartnet Type II format and it is possible to utilise the control channel only function found on many trunking scanners to monitor this network.

The control channel rotates every 24 hours to give each transmitter a break.

The network is extremely busy during the day with business users but is very quiet after hours. Radios can be hired from National Wireless and it is common to hear short term users on the network (event organisation etc).
