Berwick St Leonard is a small village south of the great Salisbury Plain and
was the centre of the KEYNES family for generations.
The area within which the village lies is described in tourist brochures as
"an area of great natural beauty" and includes items of historical
interest such as stonehenge and other prehistoric monuments.
As with most small villages of the time, Berwick St. Leonard had its own
church centrally located. It was
here that professional researcher Harry Holyer from Wiltshire was able to discover the early
family baptisms, deaths and marriages. He
was employed by Joan Mould, of Victoria, Australia.

and history was prepared locally in Wiltshire.
Chris KEYNES, a family member who lives on the Isle of Wight, has visited
Berwick St. Leonard and taken photographs of the area, including the church
above. The photograph here shows a field within which the 'old' B St. L
village lay, comprising 'mud and wattle' cottages, now completely decayed.
