In the period from the 1660s to 1851 when Keros KEYNES emigrated with his wife Elizabeth and three children the male line comprised 5 generations with Jacob KHANES being the first and Keros the sixth.

The following 'Tree' shows the simplified male line.

Jacob Khan CAINES b. 1716
     James Cain CAINES b. 1740
          Jacob Cain CAINES b. 1767
               Keros KEYNES b. 1818

The ancestors of Keros KEYNES date back to the 18th Century to Jacob Khan CAINES.  No record can be found in England for his parents.  Family lore and the use of Old Testament biblical names in naming children suggest that he may have been Jewish, immigrating from Germany. A search in Germany by Victorian researcher Joan Mould was unsuccessful.

Keros emigrated from Wiltshire on the Marion which was wrecked when entering South Australian waters.

Keros and his wife Elizabeth emigrated with his 3 children and a 4th was born on board ship.

Some years after arrival in South Australia, he was able to buy a small farm at Freeling some 70 kilometres north of Adelaide.
