Crafers Freeway
One of our most recent highlights was the construction of Crib walling along the new Crafers Freeway, Mt Osmond. Spanning some 700 lineal metres and ranging in height from 2.0m to 3.6m.
The wall uses two crib components, Cyprus and treated pine. Both products were sourced and selected for their longevity and cosmetic appearance so as to keep in line with the hills natural beauty.
The honeycomb structure prevents build up of hydrostatic pressure behind the wall, one of the most common causes of wall failure.
Crib walls are designed to follow gentle curves and slopes and being flexible they allow for foundation settlement.
This type of wall is one of many choices available for your selection but as with all walls each have benefits and limitations and must be selected carefully and constructed correctly. Walls are expensive in most cases and need to last a lifetime. As with all walls if incorrectly built the sheer cost to replace a failed wall is far greater than that to do it correctly the first time.
Update - Stage (2) of the Crafers Freeway approximately 1784m2 (5.0m high maximum) to begin work soon.
