This book was my first. It was chiefly a book of sketches of local buildings of historical significance. Originally lauded for the illustrations, approximately every two years I have updated the text which has now become more important than the sketches. Many of the buildings featured in the book have gone or have been radically changed making it impossible to produce new sketches. My main outlet for book sales, the local craft shop, has folded thereby forestalling the latest release which was to have cross referencing and an index.
This book came ten years after the One Tree Hill effort. The sketches were of better quality; My style had developed nicely by then. Layout and design had improved but were pretty crude by my present standards. I did not have the benefit of a computer as I do now and it was a matter of Croy tape and cut and paste (in the pre-computer sense.) I taught myself to touch type (under my wifes tutorage) on this manuscript.
