1974 LT

My name is Ben Goodwin and I own a '74 TA22. I bought it for $1500 unreg off a little old lady when I was 17, the car was ever so factory original. The only thing she had Modified in way was a block of foam under the drivers seat cover so she could see over the dash, this obviously made a test drive quite difficult for me (hello head hitting roof). Well, quite a number of late nights and long weekends later and not to mention the numerous cans of degreaser I used, I finally had one clean machine.

The celica now has a Two-pac respray of "Oxide Red", 2" exhaust pipes flowing into a Walker Turbo Muffler, rebuilt carb with a Ramflow airfilter, SAAS wooden sports steering wheel, Pioneer CD/tuner attached to 6" speakers at the front and driving two 10" Sub's in the boot, a few more VDO gauges in the dash to be entertained by and be dazzled when the Tacho goes up to 7000rpm (this is quite often), a lovely set of 14" Dragway mags holding onto some low profile rubbers, King sports springs to improve handling (an upgrade to fully adjustable springs will come with the engine conversion). Plans to come are: new carpet, new weather seals, and engine conversion.

I'm sure I've left out some other details about the beast but she's a real Head-turner anywhere she goes, certainly gets the police's attention (due to the exhaust), who would have thought a 1.6L engine on a three speed auto can wind up to 176km/h! (And that's not down a big hill).
Keep up the Celica spirit.
Cheers Benny
