1973 GT

I love the old school Celicas. I noticed you have a few pics of Rod's (from USA) RA25 GT2000 Celica. His vehicle is a 1975 model. I have taken the liberty to attach a picture of my 1973 RA25 GT2000 liftback.

This is the very same car that was featured in the Jan 1974 Wheels and Modern Motor magazines. This particular vehicle was imported into Australia in late 1973 for evaluation by AMI. The GT model, with its 18RG engine, lightweight and no side-intrusion panels was deemed a Category-5 insurance car, and therefore wasn't imported.

What a pity. However, this car was kept by AMI for a number of years for road shows and them placed in storage. In the early 1980s it was released from storage and sold. Lucky I was driving by and saw it and bought it, and have owned it ever since.

The car is in almost mint condition and has been looked after very well and always garaged. It is currently getting another update so it will be ready for the 2005 Toyota Nationals.
