TapeReader
has been designed to allow easy access to segy data stored on exabyte tapes. Although
I have developed it for use with segy data it can also be used for extraction
of any type of binary data stored on tape. Exabyte tapes may contain hundreds
of files. Fast and easy access to selected files is often required. Unfortunately
almost total lack of useful software make this access very difficult. Tape readers
which are sometimes part of very expensive software packages do not provide enough
functionality and often allow only sequential access to data files. This tape
reader will provide you with random access to selected files on tape. Many additional
features are designed to give maximum functionality and provide useful information
about data. I have been using this software in my job and found it very helpful.
It has been extensively used with Windows XP, but should work with any other Windows
operating system. I have been using it with Eliant 820 tape drive, however it
uses standard Windows API functions and should work with other scsi tape drives
as well.
TapeReader is a free software. Feel free to distribute it to anyone,
who may find it useful.
I would be greatful if you send me an email
and tell me what you think about the software.
